Biscuits + Gravy Casserole

1: Prepare a 9x13 baking dish by spreading a bit of butter onto the bottom of the dish.

2: Preheat the oven to 350°F.

3: Make the sausage gravy by adding the diced onion with a bit of olive oil to a pan over medium heat and cook until translucent.

4: Add in the Italian sausage and brown until cooked through, then lower heat back to medium.

5: Add the flour and butter to the pan, coating the meat until the flour is absorbed.

6: Pour in the half and half and let bubble away, stirring until thickened.

7: Turn off the heat to cool the gravy.

8: In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, the remaining half and half, and seasonings until fully combined.

9: Cut each biscuit into quarters.

10: Place 1/2 of the quartered biscuits into the bottom of the baking dish.

11: Pour over the egg mixture.

12: Follow with the sausage gravy, evenly distributed.

13: Sprinkle over all of the cheddar cheese.

14: Top with the remaining biscuits.

15: Bake at 350°F for 45-55 minutes until the center does not jiggle and the biscuits are golden brown.

16: Enjoy right away, or let cool and store in the refrigerator overnight to warm through the next day.
