A fun and delicious spooky snack board featuring Nathan's Hot Dog Mummies and Fried Pickle Spears. The Mummy Dogs are made with Nathan's Hot Dogs wrapped in puffed pastry, and the Fried Pickles are crispy and flavorful, perfect for any gathering.
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
For Mummy Dogs, cut the puffed pastry sheet into eight 1/4 inch vertical strips.
Wrap the strip of puffed pastry around each hot dog, leaving space between twists.
Place onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 14-16 minutes until golden.
Set eyeball sprinkles on hot dogs as soon as they come out of the oven.
For Fried Pickles, pat the pickle spears dry with a paper towel.
In one bowl, whisk together flour, spices, buttermilk, egg, and beer until thick.
Stir together panko bread crumbs and corn meal in another bowl.
Dunk pickle spears into wet batter, shake off excess and coat with dry panko mixture.
Heat vegetable oil in a large pot to 2-3 inches deep. Test oil with a piece of panko.
Fry battered pickle spears in batches for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
Place fried pickles on a paper towel-lined plate and sprinkle with kosher salt.
